Frequently Asked Questions

  • While wind damage can be more obvious (missing or lifted shingles, tree limbs broken, etc) hail damage on your roof often requires a more trained eye.

That said, there can be some telltale signs to look for from the ground, without you climbing onto your roof (which we never recommend for safety reasons). One such indicator is if you see any small circular dents on your gutter downspouts. Another is if your window screens suddenly have small tears in them (similar to “runs” in pantyhose) after a hail storm. Small nicks and chips in the stain on your wooden fence or deck is another sign.

There are actually several indicators to look for; too many to list here. If you’re concerned about the condition of your roof, contact us immediately for a free inspection to ensure your home is in good working order.

  • Not for a storm-related peril. Your insurance carrier cannot penalize you individually and increase your homeowner’s insurance premium in response to an “Act of God.” They may raise their rates for your area or region as a whole if it shows increased statistical risk over time, but not you personally.

However we are not Public Adjusters, and insurance laws change all the time. If you are concerned about the laws surrounding your insurance policy, contact the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) where they will be happy to answer any questions.

  • We cannot “eat the deductible” or offer a “free roof.”. More importantly, homeowners should never do business with contractors offering such schemes, as the practice is highly illegal and could land YOU, the homeowner, in a terrible situation.

    The Law:
Pursuant to Texas House Bill 2102 “Texas law requires a person insured under a property insurance policy to pay any deductible applicable to a claim made under the policy. It is a violation of Texas law for a person or business paid wholly or partly from proceeds of a property insurance claim to knowingly allow the policyholder to fail to pay, or assist the policyholder's failure to pay, the applicable insurance deductible.”

    The reality:
Contractors offer these schemes so they don’t have to stand by their work. No matter what guarantee they claim to offer, if they can get YOU to take part in a crime (insurance fraud) then they know you can’t take them to court later when your roof starts leaking. Knowing this, these roofers can make up the difference by cutting corners, using lower quality materials from discount yards, and hiring day laborers on the cheap.

  • ZERO
Any legitimate contractor will perform the work at the prices stated by the insurance company. Your insurance claims adjuster is required to provide you with a “Scope of Repairs Estimate” when agreeing to have any restoration work performed in relation to the claim. This scope of repairs, or “scope”, describes in great detail what repairs they have agreed to cover.

If there are discrepancies between what insurance has agreed to and what your roofer believes is necessary to complete the project correctly, these difference will be remedied through a supplementation process before any work begins.

So how then do you decide which company to use?
You want the roofer whom you trust to do the job right the first time. Community Roofing Texas restores your roof with superior craftsmanship at the price agreed upon by your insurance company. Not a penny more, not a penny less. Your only cost will be your deductible.

    Important Note:
Receiving the final insurance payment from your carrier requires proof you actually had the work done at the agreed price. Bargain hunting for low-cost/low-quality roofers will only save money for the insurance company, NOT YOU. Get the roof your home deserves with Community Roofing Texas.

  • Navigating an insurance claim can be confusing, frustrating, and daunting for many homeowners. We do this every day and we use our experience to make your claims process clear, stress-free, and easy.

Start off on the right foot
We help you file your claim properly, avoiding communication missteps with the insurance company.

    Meet the adjuster
We meet with the claims adjuster, discuss your unique situation, and make certain all your home’s damage is accounted for in their report.

    Supplementing
Once the adjuster presents their initial scope of repairs estimate, we go to bat for you negotiating any additional “supplements” necessary to complete your project correctly. These are items they may have overlooked or forgot to include.

    Advisory
We offer guidance throughout the process to ensure you receive the best possible outcome. From start to finish, we are your resource for any questions or concerns you may have.

    Documentation and Submission
Before, during, and after the project we collect extensive documentation regarding your project. We organize the necessary papers, photos, and forms and deliver detailed reporting to the insurance provider, thus ensuring a timely distribution of funds and acknowledgement of your brand new beautiful roof in your updated policy.

  • With Community Roofing you get 2 warranties.

First is the manufacturer’s warranty. When the job is complete, we fill out the paperwork with the manufacturer of the products we have installed on your home (GAF, Owens Corning, etc.) While these may be “Lifetime” warranties or similar, they generally only cover the materials in the event you got a defective batch that falls apart prematurely. This is extremely rare.

The warranty that truly matters is the second; Community Roofing’s 5 year workmanship warranty. If our installers made a mistake of any kind we will come fix it, so long as the roof has not been altered or modified since our installation. At Community Roofing Texas we stand by our work. End of story.
